Welcome To pnmstitch Home

pnmstitch resulted from a temporary vacuum within the MAC OS X toolset to deal with automated stitching of set of panoramic Digital images. The tool has now been ported to MAC OS X, Linux, FreeBSD and CYGWIN; and has been incorporated into the netpbm graphics toolset releases 10.7 and higher (Thanks to Bryan Henderson). Continuing development in the pnmstitch project, with a commitment to provide a MAC OS X binary package and stable source snapshots being delivered into the netpbm project. If you find this tool useful or educational, feel free to heap accolades and comments upon me!

An example of a panoramic image automatically stitched and cropped by earlier versions of the pnmstitch utility is

The full resolution image of Glacier Bay Alaska is copyright Mark Salyzyn August 2000. Beware, this picture is a result of stitching 15 3.3Mpixel photos (total resolution is 25536x1353x24bit) and as a result is fairly large and can not be viewed successfully by many applications or memory limited systems.

Other Panoramas automatically blended with pnmstitch have been published in Newsletters, improving the credibility of the tool.

One needs to install the netpbm utilities and associated libraries to build, either placing the late model pnmstitch.c into the editor/pnmstitch.c file in the netpbm build tree, or building with the accompanying standalone makefile.
